Revoltech Pocco
I really wish I could have continued the Revoltech line. The first one I bought was Danboard, and I’ve been hooked since. I got the Saber Alter, then the Yoko Movie and the Yoko TV Versions after that, followed quickly by the 4 Transformers; Megatron, Optimus Prime (Convoy), Hot Rod (Hot Rodimus), and Starscream.
Among them all though, I think my favorite has still got to be Pocco.
Pocco is Fraulein Revoltech No.004, after Rei Ayanami, Rin TÅsaka, and Asuka Langley Soryu (all of whom I also picked up along the line). After her came an assortment of re-colors and re-tools of the Idolm@ster girls until Yoko Ritona came up. The line lasted until the second Yoko came out, at which point the price for the line became prohibitive for me.
Keep in mind that I’m not saying that these new Revoltechs are not a good value. They come with so much more stuff than they used to (Pocco came with a sword and a stand), and are packaged in much nicer boxes (not to mention bigger).
Pocco’s box was pretty much just a box with many a pretty picture.
I can’t read Japanese, but I was curious enough to read up on the character. Turns out she doesn’t really have any real background. Artist Shunya Yamashita came out with a book of his pieces called “Sweet Dreams“, that featured Pocco on the cover. That’s about all there is to it. This figure is really just a three dimensional interpretation of that.
And, boy did they do a good job!
The sculpt on this figure is outstanding, even considering it’s an anime toy, so realism isn’t really that much of a sticking point. It rivals even Art Storm’s Nasca statue (which my co-worker, Toy Pusher, so nicely documents HERE).
The figure doesn’t have as much cleavage as the Gurren Lagann figures, but it’s very curvy. If you could replace the head with a more Western featured one, she’d make a great super heroine figure base (if she didn’t have all that extra detail on her anyway). If Marvel Legends had made 6″ female figure this nicely, they’d have made a lot more money. Imagine getting a White Queen figure that looked like this?
As you can see, there’s no need to work for the upskirt shots. The little belt/skirt/whatever thing is removable. As are her wings. You need to be really REALLY careful with the wings. I placed my figure in storage and when I took it out again, the post that held the wing in place was broken off and the “feathers” were bent. Sigh.
The only other accessory is her sword and a few extra hands that allow her to hold it. It’s a disappointment from the other figures, but the design is really nice.
Articulation is the draw for these figures, and Kaiyodo doesn’t skimp here. The proprietary “Revolver joint” (basically a double swivel/hinge combo that can be disassembeled) means that she has an obscene amout of flexibility.
You need to be very careful though and realize that this isn’t a figure that is made for rough play. She’s a display piece, pure and simple. Too much handling will pull the joints loose and you’re liable to loose something.
Even with that caveat, I can’t stop posing this figure. It’s just that much fun!
You really can’t go wrong with this figure. It’s a beautifully made toy, with great detail, awsome range of motion, and HAVE YOU BEEN LOOKING AT THE PHOTOS?

@Xine, the only Danbos I’ve seen lately are at Wasabi Toys and they’re the Amazon variety. p2500, but I don’t know if they’re still in stock.

Pocco is my favorite Revoltech and I think she’s the prettiest too. The problem I have with other Revoltechs are their stands because they somewhat restrict the variety of poses that you can create. Pocco doesn’t need a stand and I agree that the articulation is pretty neat.
Still in search for a reasonably priced Danbo and mini Danbo. ^^;
